Jarvis Cocker DJ-ed during Manchester In The City as part of Twisted Nerve’s evening, on the closing night of ITC (Tuesday 7th October 2008).
During the day the Pulp frontman had given an In The City artist keynote speech in the Alexandra B Suite of the Midland Hotel in Manchester entitled ‘Saying The Unsayable’, which dealt with the function of lyrics in popular song. Keep your eyes on the ITC official site as I’ve heard they may upload the video of the presentation
Jarvis’ DJ set was a late addition to the Twisted Nerve bill, and it seemed like quite a well-kept secret. He happily posed for photos with fans after spinning some records:
Here’s a video of Romeo from The Magic Numbers covering The Smiths’ classic “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out”, with help from the In The City audience at the Manchester Deaf Institute
Lead Balloons played at the official In The City Friends Of Mine fringe event at the Manchester Attic on Saturday. Here’s a quick photo of bassist Craig Marchington… I’ll add some more photos from this set later on this week
